Spring Dawn by Meng Haoran Asleep in the spring, I missed the dawn Until I heard the birds singing everywhere. Wind and rain had clamored last night. How many flowers fell during the storm?
About the Poet Meng Haoran (689 - 740 AD) is a very famous poet in Chinese history. He was a great friend of Li Bai, the most famous poet in China. Li Bai wrote about his friendship with Meng Haoran in Seeing Meng Haoran Off to Yangzou from Yellow Crane Pavilion. Ancient poems have been widely recited in China for more than a thousand years. Even today, children as young as 3 years old learn to say them. |
