Adoption Application Letter ___________ & _________ (last name) Child Desired: We wish to adopt a healthy 2-3 year old Chinese girl, as young as possible within this range. It is very important to us that __________ preserves her place in our family as the oldest child. This age ranges will make the children sufficiently far apart so they will be able to develop individually, and close together enough so they can be playmates as well as sisters. Education: We are committed to higher education as a means of personal achievement and earning power, and will ensure our adopted child receives the best possible education. Financial Stability: We have achieved a degree of financial security, with a stable income of over $__________ per year. We are well able to provide a life of comfort and security to another child. Reason for Adoption: We love children, wish to have a family, are unable to have biological children, and therefore have a strong motivation to adopt. Our first child, __________, has been a joyful addition to our lives, and is well loved by family, friends and neighbors. She is thriving, smart, charming, has many friends and is loving life with us who she recognizes as her “forever family.” We want _________ to know the gift of growing up with a sister as opposed to an only child, and we want the same thing for our second daughter. Therefore we wish to add to our family through adoption. We are committed to educate ________ in the Chinese culture and language, and for that reason would very much like our second child to be Chinese as well. Although an adopted Chinese child would become an American citizen, we will educate the child to the best of our ability on the Chinese culture, history, arts, music, etc. Our marriage is very strong and stable, we have a good home in a pleasant neighborhood, in a town which is virtually crime-free and oriented to families, and can therefore offer a child a very good home and healthy environment.

Commitment: The child we adopt will be the focus of our lives, along with _______, and we will dedicate ourselves to provide the best possible care, home and education for the child. We will never abandon the child, will protect the child from harm or abuse or mistreatment of any kind, and will love and care for the child as our own. We will readopt her in the US, as we have done with _______, to make sure she is legally recognized in all states as our child and entitled to inherit our estate. Family Environment: Since adopting ______ from China, our lifestyle has changed. We have less interest now in adult pastimes such as golf, cocktail parties, theater etc., and are more interested in _________’s education, fun and well-being. We spend a great deal of time with her exploring new things to do, provide play-time with her friends from school, and visit neighbors and their children. This same focus on children will continue with a second adopted child. Guardianship: We have prepared Wills and other legal documents naming ______ and an unnamed adopted child as our sole heirs in the event of our death. In addition, we have readopted ________ and will do the same for our second adopted child to ensure her legal status as our child in all states and recognized as our heir. Within our Will we have named a primary guardian in the event of our deaths, and have also named a secondary guardian in the event the 1st guardian is unable to serve. Both are trusted members of our family. We wish to thank the Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs for the help they rendered in adopting _______ from China in (year), for she has blessed our lives beyond words, and is thriving and as happy as a child could be. We could not possibly love her any more if she were our biological child. We also wish to thank you for considering our request for a second child, who we will love and care for as much as ______. We wish to thank you on behalf of _______ also, since she asks us every day how long it will be before we can all go to China to bring home her little sister. (His name) (Her name) |
